Accent Training (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps users practice American English pronunciation and accent skills. This policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used.
1. Information the App Handles
Profile and learning data
The App may store a locally generated user identifier, display name, avatar image, course selections, lesson progress, practice results, scores, streaks, and activity dates. The App does not require an account or sign-in.
iCloud synchronization
Lesson progress, scores, streak and activity data, display name, and avatar are stored on your device. When iCloud is available, this data may also sync through your private iCloud database so that it can follow you across your Apple devices. Course selections remain local to your device. If iCloud is unavailable, all data remains stored locally.
Microphone and speech recognition
If you grant permission and use a speaking feature, the App records audio for pronunciation practice and may keep a temporary recording on your device for playback and comparison. The App uses Apple’s Speech Recognition service to transcribe speech. Audio submitted for transcription may be sent to Apple, depending on your device and system settings. See Apple’s Siri, Dictation & Privacy information.
Photos and camera
If you choose an avatar from your photo library or camera, the selected image is stored with your profile and may sync through your private iCloud database. The App does not access photos or the camera unless you choose to use these features and grant permission.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. The App receives product and entitlement information needed to provide subscription features. We do not receive your payment-card details or Apple Account credentials.
Advertising
The free version uses Google Mobile Ads to display advertisements. Google may receive information such as the app name, IP address, device or app information, advertising identifiers when available, and information about ad requests, impressions, and interactions. Google uses this information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and, where permitted, personalize advertising. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
2. How Information Is Used
The App uses information to:
- provide lessons, practice activities, pronunciation feedback, and progress tracking;
- synchronize profile and learning progress through iCloud;
- provide speech transcription and optional voice input;
- verify subscription access and restore purchases;
- display and measure advertising for users without an ad-free subscription; and
- maintain and improve the App’s reliability and learning experience.
The AI Coach chat uses Apple’s on-device language model on supported devices. AI Coach chat content is not sent to a server operated by us. Speaking exercises use Apple Speech Recognition as described above.
3. Third-Party Services
The App relies on Apple for iCloud, Speech Recognition, App Store purchases, and supported on-device language-model features, and on Google Mobile Ads for advertising. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data Retention and Your Choices
Local profile and learning data remains on your device until it is changed or the App and its data are removed. Data synchronized through iCloud may remain in your private iCloud storage and can be managed through your Apple Account and iCloud settings.
Temporary voice recordings may remain in the App’s temporary storage until removed by the App or operating system. Apple and Google retain information according to their respective policies.
You can control microphone, speech-recognition, camera, photo-library, advertising, and iCloud permissions in your device settings. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us.
6. Security
We use platform-provided storage and security features intended to protect information. However, no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated date.
